Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring a Maine or compact license, prior travel experience, and Trauma Level 1 background.

Details

  • Work in the Pre-Operative and Post-Operative PACU unit, including PH 1, PH 2, Post op Cath/EP/TAVR, Robotics, and Vascular
  • Unit includes 40 pre/post beds and 9 overnight bays with embedded 23-hour short stay
  • Patient ratio is 2:1 for Phase 1 Care, up to 3-4 for 23-hour stay patients
  • Day shift, 12-hour shifts from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM
  • Scheduled every other Saturday as part of weekend rotation
  • Call requirements apply
  • Required to float to Bramhall PACU, IMC, and ICU as needed within a 25-mile float policy
  • Utilizes IV pumps, PCAs, epidurals, A-lines, tele monitoring, and TEE/CV equipment
  • Charts in Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Maine or Compact) required upon consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (non-AHA certifications accepted at submission but AHA must be completed before start)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with 3 years of PACU experience including recent years preferred
  • ICU experience required
  • Trauma Level 1 experience required
  • Prior travel experience required
  • Experience with pre and post procedure TEE/CV/Cath/EP OR procedures
  • Skilled in cardiac drips, IV management, tele monitoring, Phase 1 care, groin management, and EKGs
  • Ability to read tele strips
  • Driver's license required upon consideration
  • Two professional references required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative care for cardiac, vascular, and robotic procedure patients, including Cath/EP/TEE cardioversion and pediatric CATH cases
  • Team-oriented environment requiring excellent communication skills, flexibility, and a can-do attitude
  • Scrubs may be any color but must be fragrance-free
  • Artificial nails and cell phone use are prohibited on the unit, as are AirPods and laptops
  • Local candidates residing within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility (Maine or New Hampshire residents) will be considered local
  • Local travelers are not eligible for renewals or extensions
  • Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months should indicate this during consideration
  • RTO should be kept to a minimum, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract at manager's discretion
  • Online education modules and unit orientation provided based on employee need
