Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and WA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit in a teaching hospital setting with 200-300 births per month
• Unit includes 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
• Patient population includes labor, preterm labor, high risk antepartum, and low risk antepartum patients
• Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, pre-op/post-op, scrub duties, and low risk L&D care
• Staffing ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:3
• Attends all deliveries including high-risk deliveries and GYN surgeries
• Provides couplet care and transition nursery support
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Float requirement to Post-Partum and possibly to Labor and Delivery at a sister facility
• Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
• ACLS certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Experience maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC)
• Skilled in medication administration including anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
• Experience assisting with high risk deliveries, circulating and recovering C-sections
• Skilled in sterile vaginal exams and fetal monitoring
• Experience with epidural anesthesia, pain management, and PCA (IV) use
• Experience with IUPC placement and calibration
• Knowledge of antepartum and postpartum care and procedures
• Experience with wound assessment and care
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility unless applying as a local candidate
• Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
• Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
• Refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• All requested time off must be submitted upfront during the application process
• Candidates can only be submitted to one Providence facility at a time
• Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
