Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency at a high-volume teaching hospital.
Details
- Labor and Delivery unit within a teaching hospital setting
- Facility performs 200-300 births per month
- 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
- Patient population includes labor, preterm labor, and high risk antepartum cases
- Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, pre-op/post-op, scrub, low risk antepartum, and low risk L&D care
- Attends all deliveries including high risk deliveries and GYN surgeries
- Provides couplet care and transition nursery support
- Staffing ratio of 1:1 to 1:3
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
- Floating required to Post-Partum and possibly L&D at Swedish First Hill
- Uses Epic EMR system
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
- ACLS certification preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with blood/blood product administration required
- Skilled in IV therapy and phlebotomy
- Experience maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC)
- Experience with anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
- Experience assisting with high risk deliveries and circulating/recovering C-sections
- Skilled in sterile vaginal exams and fetal monitoring
- Experience with IUPC placement and calibration
- Experience with epidural anesthesia and PCA pain management
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
- Perform triage of obstetrical patients and ongoing fetal monitoring
- Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- Wound assessment and care as part of postpartum management
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Candidates residing within 50 miles are considered local
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to offer, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
- Former permanent Providence employees may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
- Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities in the area
- Contract lengths of 13 or 26 weeks available
