Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency at a teaching hospital campus.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
• Facility delivers 200-300 births per month
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Patient population includes labor, preterm labor, and high risk antepartum/delivery cases
• Staffing ratio of 1:1 to 1:3
• Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, pre-op/post-op, scrub, low risk antepartum, and low risk L&D care
• Special procedures include blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and wound vac care
• Medication administration includes heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
• Attends all deliveries including high risk deliveries and GYN surgeries
• Provides couplet care, low risk antepartum care, and transition nursery coverage
• Floating required to Post-Partum and possibly to L&D at a sister facility
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
• ACLS certification preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy and administration of blood and blood products
• Skilled in maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC)
• Experience with anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including assisting with high risk deliveries
• Experience circulating and recovering C-sections
• Proficient in sterile vaginal exams and fetal monitoring
• Experience with epidural anesthesia and pain management including PCA (IV) use
• Skilled in use of IUPC placement and calibration
• Experience in antepartum and postpartum care and procedures
• Wound assessment and care experience required
• Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required

Additional Information

• Teaching hospital environment supporting high risk antepartum and labor and delivery care
• Travelers are expected to float between sister facilities as needed
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront prior to consideration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Radius rule of 50 miles applies for local candidate designation
• Former permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month separation period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or registry/per-diem roles
