Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a teaching hospital setting requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a teaching hospital with 200-300 births per month
- Unit includes 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
- Patient population includes labor and preterm labor, high-risk antepartum, and low-risk antepartum/L&D cases
- Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN care, pre-op/post-op care, scrub duties, and couplet care
- Attends all deliveries including high-risk deliveries and assists with GYN surgeries
- Staffing ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:3
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Floating required to Post-Partum and possibly to L&D at a sister facility
- Uses Epic EMR
- Performs special procedures including blood/blood product administration, epidural and PCA pump management, cardioversion/defibrillation, and IUPC placement/calibration
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate
- ACLS certification preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, central line maintenance, anticoagulation and antihypertensive therapy, insulin drip management, and magnesium sulfate therapy
- Labor and delivery management skills including assisting with high-risk deliveries, circulating and recovering C-sections, and performing sterile vaginal exams
- Pain management skills including epidural anesthesia support and use of IV PCA
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting required
- First-time travelers accepted with minimum 2 years of experience
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
- Perform obstetrical triage, fetal monitoring, and wound assessment/care
- Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel rate unless applying as a local candidate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a travel employee and must be located outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Travelers are expected to float between sister facilities within the health system as needed
- All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
