Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring prior ICU experience with crani and EVD management, and current WI or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the Neuro ICU at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
- Care for ICU and IMC patient populations
- Night shift, 4x12 hours, 1900-0730
- Every other weekend required
- Some holiday coverage required
- Floating required as needed
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
- Prior ICU experience required, Neurosurgery experience preferred
- Prior travel experience required, specifically with craniotomy and EVD management (hardstop requirement)
- Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting, including adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation with strict passing criteria
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Skilled in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
- Skilled in continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Skilled in CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care
- Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction
- Experience with infection prevention practices and isolation precautions/PPE
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to complex neurological and neurosurgical patients, including crani and EVD cases
- Facility is a Magnet-designated hospital ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital and a leading teaching and referral center
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility as local candidates are not accepted
