Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring prior ICU experience with crani and EVD management, and current WI or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the Neuro ICU at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Care for ICU and IMC patient populations
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 1900-0730
• Every other weekend required
• Some holiday coverage required
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
• Prior ICU experience required, Neurosurgery experience preferred
• Prior travel experience required, specifically with craniotomy and EVD management (hardstop requirement)
• Epic EMR experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting, including adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation with strict passing criteria
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Skilled in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
• Skilled in continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Skilled in CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery care
• Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and care of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction
• Experience with infection prevention practices and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex neurological and neurosurgical patients, including crani and EVD cases
• Facility is a Magnet-designated hospital ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital and a leading teaching and referral center
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility as local candidates are not accepted
