Description
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an Acute Care Hospital setting, requiring at least 1 year of acute care experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Setting: Short Term Acute Care hospital with 379 staffed beds and Level II Trauma Center designation
- Unit: PT Acute Care Hospital
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Schedule: Day shift, 5x8 hours (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM)
- Weekend rotation required alongside full-time therapy staff
- No floating between units required
- No on-call requirements
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of acute care physical therapy experience required
- BLS certification required
- Compact state license must be in hand at time of submission (license required if applicable)
- Epic charting system experience required
- Experience with orthopedic conditions including post-op spinal, shoulder, and cervical surgeries, total hip/knee replacements, and hip fractures preferred
- Experience with neurologic conditions including stroke rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and cognitive disorders preferred
- Skilled in gait training, body mechanics, home exercise programs, and patient/family education
- Experience with equipment including gait belts, sliding boards, hospital/specialty beds, bed alarms, and call lights preferred
- Outpatient clinic, rehabilitation hospital, and skilled nursing facility experience preferred
Additional Information
- Main responsibilities include patient assessment, evaluation, and discharge planning within an acute care setting
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All requested time off must be submitted upfront during the application process, as post-offer requests may not be accommodated
- Candidates should be flexible in scheduling, as inflexibility may affect contract continuation
- Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Full SSN and DOB required for submission
- Local candidates accepted at standard bill rate
- Local radius rule of 50 miles applies
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
