Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of ER experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a regional referral and tertiary care center serving all patient populations
  • 101-bed unit handling approximately 250 visits per day
  • Patient ratios of 1:3-5
  • Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
  • 26-week contract length with option for 36 hours per week
  • Floating required between the Emergency Observation Unit and Emergency Behavioral Health based on need
  • Weekend requirement of a minimum of 4 weekend days per 6-week schedule, up to every other weekend
  • Uses Pyxis and Epic systems, with SBAR communication and daily shift huddles
  • No blocked scheduling available

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant ER experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, MOAB, NIHSS, PALS
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Skills required include IV starts, triage, and telemetry
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Experience with psychiatric patients, respiratory care, IV therapy, and cardiac monitoring preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency care across a broad patient population including psychiatric, respiratory, cardiac, and neurological cases in a STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
  • Participate in triage, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
  • Unit orientation is 24 hours with weekly orientation schedule
  • Navy/White scrubs required
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower rate
  • Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees (PERM/PRN/EP) must wait 12 months before applying, with disclosure of hospital name and employment dates required
  • Current travel per diem clinicians at this facility must choose between per diem or travel status
  • Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday, with all RTO requiring pre-approval and no RTO allowed during the first week
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • No additional RTO requests allowed after signing
