Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Float across multiple Critical Care Units including SICU, MICU, CCU, and Oncology ICU
  • Three 18-bed ICUs and one 6-bed Oncology ICU
  • Surgical ICU cares for trauma, surgical complications, Neuro (TNK), and open-heart surgery patients
  • Medical ICU cares for critically ill patients with exacerbated medical comorbidities
  • Cardiac Care Unit cares for patients requiring monitoring after cardiac procedures
  • Oncology ICU cares for critically ill oncology patients and those requiring chemo inductions
  • All ICU units also care for DKA, ETOH withdrawal, and other patients requiring increased level of care
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule from 19:00 to 07:00
  • Every other weekend required, including Saturday and Sunday
  • May be required to work if a holiday falls during the assignment
  • Flexible scheduling preferred
  • Floating may be requested based on facility needs
  • Uses EPIC for charting

Requirements

  • Active VA RN license or compact RN license required in hand
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Specialty experience required within the last year
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications must be through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • NIH and stroke education required
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
  • Skilled in ventilator management, suctioning, and BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Skilled in CVVHD/CRRT and management of acute/chronic renal failure
  • Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation monitoring
  • Skilled in CVA/acute stroke management, ICP monitoring, EVD, and post-neurosurgery care
  • Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Skilled in IV insulin protocols and management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Experience with post cardiac surgery care and pre/post cardiac catheterization preferred
  • Experience with ECMO, IABP, and TAVR preferred
  • Social Security Number required at time of consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across multiple ICU specialties based on facility staffing needs
  • Local candidates accepted at the same base rate
  • Prior permanent employees must have separated from employment for at least 6 months before being eligible to travel
  • Candidates currently on a per diem contract with the facility must choose between travel or per diem, as simultaneous assignments are not permitted
  • Requested time off should be kept to a minimum, ideally no full calendar week off and no more than 7 days total during the assignment
  • All time off requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration; no additional requests will be approved after an offer is extended
  • Travel experience not required, making this a good fit for first-time travelers
