Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III NICU position requiring a CA RN license, 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in the NICU specialty, and prior travel experience.
Details
- Work in a Level III NICU within an acute care hospital averaging 190 births per month
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
- Patient ratio of 1:2-3
- Weekend rotation of every other weekend, though may exceed this to meet unit needs
- No floating between like units required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Epic charting system
- Facility retains right to call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required, compact license must be in hand at time of consideration
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP (Advanced NRP required or willingness to obtain before start)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year in NICU specialty (candidates with less overall experience but Level IV NICU background may still be considered)
- Community hospital experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required (candidates with 2+ years of NICU experience may be considered without travel experience)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC, and neonatal medication administration
- Experience with respiratory support including CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ventilator management, and oxygen delivery systems
- Experience caring for neonates across gestational ranges including <24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and >34 weeks
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including APGAR scoring, developmental care, thermoregulation, and patient/family teaching
- Attend high-risk deliveries and manage conditions such as neonatal abstinence syndrome, seizure disorders, and necrotizing enterocolitis
- Support respiratory care including suctioning, oscillators, and management of respiratory distress syndrome
- Assist with procedures such as lumbar puncture and manage PICC lines
- Scrub color for RNs is navy blue
- Free parking available onsite
- Must reside within 50 miles of the facility for local candidate consideration at applicable rate
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
- All RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of consideration; post-offer RTO requests may not be granted
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- Travelers may be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position unless they have 2+ years of NICU experience
