Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Long-Term Acute Care unit requiring at least 1 year of experience and a WA or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the LTAC unit of a short term acute care hospital with 325 staffed beds
- Unit cares for both dementia/autistic patients and acute medical patients
- Patient population includes surgical patients requiring overnight stays, procedural observation patients, medical observation patients, and long length of stay patients
- Patient ratios are 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights, and 1:5 on weekends
- Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Every other weekend shift required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required between similar units within skill set
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- LTAC experience preferred
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
- Experience with colostomy/ileostomy management and feeding tube care
- Experience with neurological and psychiatric conditions including CVA, mood disorders, and traumatic brain injury
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
- Experience with oxygen administration and nasal cannula use
- Experience with renal failure and surgical drain management
- Acute care experience required
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to a mixed population of acute medical and long length of stay patients
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this travel contract
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
- Minimal RTO preferred, ideally under 7 days
- Floating between various like units within skill set is a regular expectation
