Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift community hospital position requiring float coverage across ED, ICU, NICU, and Labor & Delivery.

Details

• Community-based hospital setting with rotation across Emergency Department, Adult ICU, Adult Med Surg, Adult Progressive Care Unit, Labor & Delivery, and NICU
• Full-service community Emergency Department requiring assistance with pediatric care as applicable
• Will float 30-40% of a 13-week assignment between high risk deliveries, NICU II, adult acute care, and ER
• This is not a home-based unit position; candidate will float to meet facility needs based on skill set
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday coverage required (2 of 3 major holidays as determined by leadership)
• Cerner charting system preferred
• 100% floating required, including to affiliate hospitals nearby

Requirements

• RRT certification required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Adult travelers with Labor & Delivery experience preferred
• NICU travelers with NRP willing to attend high-risk deliveries and float to adult critical care preferred
• Experience with CPAP, Nasal CPAP, and BiPAP required
• Experience with ECMO, oscillating ventilator, and umbilical blood gases preferred
• Skills in ventilator management, airway management, extubation, intubation assist, and tracheostomy care required
• Experience with high frequency jet ventilator and high frequency oscillator preferred
• Experience with oxygen therapy, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and nebulizer treatments required
• Ability to attend high-risk deliveries required
• License required if applicable
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Responsibilities include assisting in high-risk deliveries and providing respiratory support across multiple adult and neonatal/pediatric care settings
• Candidates will float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
• Candidates must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Indiana residents are considered local candidates
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position due to unit type
• Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12+ months of travel employment must take a designated break to reset eligibility (3 months for out-of-state residents, 6 months for in-state residents)
