Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and 2+ years of experience, with a VA or compact RN license required.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a high-volume medical center averaging 2,000 deliveries annually
• Unit features 8 private labor rooms, 4 private triage beds, and 2 OB operating rooms
• Patient population includes low-risk (including certified nurse midwife) and high-risk maternal fetal medicine cases
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-7:00
• Required to work every other weekend
• Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Expected to cross-train to Mother/Baby and may float to NICU for feeder/grower cases
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required, pending license accepted
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Fetal monitoring competency required, including recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy and postpartum hemorrhage care preferred
• Experience with newborn assessment and postpartum care and procedures preferred
• BSN preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
• Assist with newborn care including circumcision site assessment and neonatal resuscitation as needed
• Support surgical procedures including circulating and recovering C-sections and tubal ligation
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed, including to Mother/Baby and NICU
• Holiday coverage required for 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Maximum 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract, which must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Previous UVA Health permanent staff or travelers must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval to be considered
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• No radius restriction applies to this unit
