Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring Level 4 NICU experience and RRT certification.
Details
- Work in the NICU at a children's hospital setting
- Care for neonatal and pediatric patient populations, including Level 4 NICU cases
- Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Unit follows a self-scheduling model that will be explained during the interview call
- Perform procedures including bubble CPAP, CPAP/BiPAP, high frequency jet ventilation, oscillating ventilator management, intubation assist, and neonatal transports
- Administer medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
- Provide care for conditions including ARDS, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, respiratory distress syndrome, and cystic fibrosis
- Epic EMR experience required for float pool and inpatient units
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of NICU experience at a Level 4 facility required
- PICU experience required; Cardiac PICU experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- RRT certification required
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- PALS certification preferred
- ACCS certification preferred
- VA state license required; license pending accepted if candidate holds another state license, with temporary license required before start (license required if applicable)
- BSN preferred
- Epic EMR experience required for float pool and inpatient units
- Proficiency in interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Skilled in airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients in a children's hospital setting
- Assist in high-risk deliveries and provide neonatal resuscitation support
- Perform ventilator management including high frequency jet and oscillating ventilators
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary pediatric critical care team
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
- Float within scope of practice as needed
- Maximum 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine appropriate start date
- Previous UVA Health employees must have 1-year separation and leadership approval to return as permanent staff or internal travelers
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- No radius restriction for this unit
