Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I/II Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of ER experience and Level I or Level II trauma experience.
Details
- Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I and Level II Trauma Center
- 18-week assignment with potential for extension through early January 2027
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Scheduled for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Weekend shifts required with scheduled days varying based on staffing needs
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Time off cannot be approved around Labor Day
- Uses Epic EMR system
- Floating required within scope of practice as needed
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license, pending license accepted if in hand before start date
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC (TNCC may be pending but required before start)
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
- Must have at least 1 year of Level I trauma facility experience or 2 years of Level II trauma facility experience
- Some pediatric experience required
- Epic EMR charting experience required
- BSN preferred
- Two professional references required
- Nursys license verification required
Additional Information
- Provide emergency nursing care within a high-acuity trauma center setting
- Perform triage duties as part of ER responsibilities
- Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding
- Maximum of 40 hours of RTO approved per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any vacation time planned between offer acceptance and start date must be disclosed in advance
- No additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
- Candidates with prior UVA Health employment as permanent staff or travelers must disclose this; a 1-year separation and leadership approval is required for rehire
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this threshold is reached
- First-time travelers may be considered for this position
