Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Stepdown RN for a night shift position requiring PCU/DOU/IMC and telemetry experience along with a WI or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Stepdown Cardiac unit of a teaching hospital
- Cardiac telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Uses Epic charting system
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00pm-7:30am
- Monday through Friday schedule with every other weekend required
- Floating required as needed
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years acute care experience within the last 3 years in cardiac telemetry or PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown specialty
- Preference for candidates with at least 3 years experience in a core staff position prior to travel nursing
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Skills required in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and arterial line management
- Skills required in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
- Skills required in cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation/management and rapid response team utilization
- Skills required in IV insulin protocols and heparin drip management
- Must pass a telemetry exam prior to starting, including a cardiac interpretation review course certificate if needed after a failed second attempt
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care in a Magnet-designated, nationally ranked teaching hospital and referral center
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility as local candidates are not accepted
- References are not required for consideration
- Responsibilities include managing cardiac drips without titration, wound care, and pre/post cardiac catheterization and surgery care
- Onsite parking requires a permit through UW Transportation, though bus and park & ride options are also available
