Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical night shift position requiring 2+ years of M/S experience and prior travel experience.
Details
- Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital environment
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00-17:00
- Involves cardiac monitoring, telemetry remote monitoring, and emergency response protocols
- Utilizes Rapid Response and Code teams as needed
- Cerner/Oracle Health charting experience preferred but not required
- Floating required in rotation with staff according to facility floating policies and clinical experience
- Expect to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
Requirements
- Active RN license (Compact or VA) required in hand
- BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- BSN not required
- Skills required include GI care, feeding tube management, respiratory care, BiPAP/CPAP management, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
- Bariatric surgery experience preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive medical-surgical nursing care including respiratory support and IV therapy management
- Candidates must reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility
- Local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- RTO must be approved prior to assignment start, with a preference for no RTO during the first few weeks
- Scrubs of any color are accepted with a professional appearance; child-friendly print tops and scrub/lab coats are allowed
- Nicotine-free campus policy in effect
- Orientation includes 8-10 hours of required modules completed during onboarding and annually
- Biweekly orientation sessions are held on Mondays
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
