Description
American Traveler is hiring a Trauma ICU RN with a WI or compact license and at least 2 years of ICU experience for a night shift assignment at a Level I trauma teaching hospital.
Details
- Work in the Trauma ICU of a Level I trauma teaching hospital
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 1900-0730, with every other weekend rotation
- Some holiday coverage required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Floating required as needed
- Patient population includes medical, surgical, and trauma ICU cases
Requirements
- Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with medical, surgical, and trauma ICU experience
- Must have at least 2 years of acute care experience in the specialty within the last 3 years
- Epic charting system experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, ETT/NT suctioning, and ABG interpretation
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and emergency medications
- Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and multisystem organ dysfunction care
- Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting the assignment
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to medical, surgical, and trauma ICU patients
- Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and manage patients with EVDs, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain or spinal cord injuries
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I trauma teaching hospital ranked as the top hospital in Wisconsin
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel assignment
- Traveler must pass a telemetry exam prior to start, with strict adult and pediatric passing criteria
- Up to three attempts allowed for telemetry exam, with a cardiac interpretation review course required after a second failed attempt
- First-time travelers are not specified as accepted for this assignment
