Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN with active MI licensure and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience for a night shift hospital position.
Details
- Work on a 37-bed Medical, Surgical, and Oncology unit within a hospital setting
- Care for general medical diagnosis patients as well as gastrointestinal, urological, and gynecological surgical patients
- Unit also sees ortho/neurovascular, cardio/pulmonary, and surgical patients including GI, urology, hysterectomy, and mastectomy cases
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
- 36 or 48 hour work weeks available
- Staffing ratio of 1:5-6 for nights, which may flex to 1:8 with LPN support
- Works alongside a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and Techs
- Floating to other Med/Surg units required, typically about once per week
- Travelers float first when floating is needed
- Required to work every other weekend
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required (pending license accepted with ETA)
- BLS (AHA) certification required (pending accepted with confirmation of willingness to obtain)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg experience required, 2 years preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Supervisor-level references required
- Proof of flu vaccination required with submission, or vaccination exemption submitted within 48 hours of signing
Additional Information
- Must be available for the first two weeks of orientation
- Holiday coverage is required, and RTO during holidays must remain flexible to accommodate staffing needs
- RTO requests limited to no more than 10 days
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed or approved at this time
- Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at the local rate
- Previous Bronson travelers may return after 6 months, and previous permanent staff may return after 1 year
- Nursing students may be present as part of unit training
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
