Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring a CA RN license and Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:00
• 13-week assignment length
• Care for laboring, delivering, and postpartum mothers and their newborns

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NRP (provider)
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
• AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Must be comfortable providing care to both newborns and postpartum mothers
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with any charting system preferred
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include labor and delivery management such as assisting with vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and C-section recovery
• Perform antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care including fetal monitoring, sterile vaginal exams, and obstetrical triage
• Administer medications including Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, and Terbutaline, and manage pain relief methods such as epidural anesthesia and IV PCA
• Provide neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and ID/security banding
• Manage postpartum complications such as bladder distension and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Follow isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius
• Returning employees must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
• Maximum RTO is 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
