Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU / Mobile Transport position requiring flight or mobile transfer experience and both OR and WA/Compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Position based in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with a dedicated pediatric mobile ICU transport team
  • Transport team consists of one RN and one RT per shift, transporting neonatal and pediatric patients from outside facilities to a higher level of care
  • Transport is physician-guided and may involve ground, fixed-wing, or rotor-wing transportation
  • Team primarily transports patients to the home facility, with additional contracted transports for partner health systems
  • 13-week assignment with a Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:30-07:00)
  • Weekend requirement of at least every third weekend, with occasional additional weekend shifts as needed
  • Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

  • active Ror RN RN license and WA/Compact RN license required prior to start (temporary Oregon license available if needed)
  • Minimum of 3 years recent experience as a fully oriented neonatal/pediatric transport RN with strong NICU/PICU skills
  • Flight and/or mobile transfer experience required for consideration
  • BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, BiPAP/CPAP, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with emergency medications including vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, and continuous sedation
  • Proficient in arterial line and central line management, IV therapy, and phlebotomy
  • Skilled in cardiovascular monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with neurologic care including hydrocephalus/VP shunt management and hypothermia protocols
  • Skilled in pediatric dosage calculations and use of the Broselow system
  • Additional skills in intubation and UVC/UAC placement preferred

Additional Information

  • Complete flight training as part of orientation through a contracted training vendor, mirroring the training required of permanent transport team staff
  • Provide critical care transport for neonatal and pediatric patients across a multi-state region
  • Scrubs may be any color except black or camouflage; transport-specific scrubs are provided
  • Free parking available in any unrestricted space
  • Candidates may not reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, with no RTO allowed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
  • Former staff must be separated from the facility/system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers with qualifying transport experience are welcome to apply
