Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring Level I Trauma experience and IN or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the Operating Room unit (Core 3 & 4) of a Short-Term Acute Care hospital
- Handles General, Plastic, GYN, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, GU, and Colorectal Robotics surgical cases
- Average daily census of 70-80 patients across 21 operating rooms
- Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- On-call requirement of approximately 40-60 hours per 6 weeks, which can vary
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals for all travelers
- Circulating duties required; scrub duties preferred
- Uses Cerner charting system
- Uses Da Vinci Xi Surgical System for robotic cases
Requirements
- Active RN license (IN or Compact) required, must be in hand prior to start date
- BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required (candidates with 2+ years may be considered if at least 1 year is in Level I Trauma experience)
- Level I Trauma experience required
- Experience with a wide range of surgical specialties including General Surgery, Gynecology, Plastics, Neurology, Orthopedics, Urology, and ENT procedures
- Must be well-rounded and current in most OR specialties, excluding CV and Transplant
- Nursing degree must be from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE
- 2 supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide circulating and scrub support for a high-volume surgical unit performing complex trauma, neuro, ortho, and robotic-assisted procedures
- Scrubs provided by facility
- Free parking available
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- Local candidates residing in Indiana are accepted for this Surgical Services position at a lower pay package
- Former IU Health perm or PRN employees must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility: 90 days for out-of-state residents or 180 days for in-state residents
