Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring TX or compact licensure and prior neuro critical care skills.

Details

• Neuro Intensive Care Unit setting within a hospital
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Floating required to ICU, IMC, and Tele units as needed
• Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, and central line care/management
• Skilled in care of ventilated patients and respiratory/thoracic management
• Neurological specialty skills including CVA/acute stroke management, EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun
• Experience with post-craniotomy, post-neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury management
• Cardiac monitoring skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex neurological and neurosurgical patients
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles are not accepted
• Previous staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration, with no more than 3 days auto-approved and none during the first week of orientation
