Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a fast-paced Med/Surg Tele unit position requiring 2 years of med/surg experience and 1 year of travel experience.
Details
- Med/Surg Tele unit caring for a mixed patient population including GI conditions, blood loss/anemia related to GI tract, infections, renal patients, and post-surgical GI patients
- Unit includes 10 telemetry beds for cardiac rhythm monitoring
- Fast-paced environment with approximately one-third of beds turning over daily
- Target patient ratio of 1:6, with occasional 1:7 during high-volume periods
- Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule, 18:45-07:15
- 36 or 48 hours per week available
- Floating required as needed to other med/surg units/floors
- Every other weekend required
- Uses PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR charting/communication systems
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact)
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of med/surg experience required
- Minimum 1 year of recent travel nursing experience required
- Telemetry experience preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred
- IV start skills required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care for a complex med/surg tele population, including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team engagement
- Additional clinical responsibilities include IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE
- Unit orientation is 36 hours
- Navy and/or white scrubs required
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower rate
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying, with facility approval required
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved if not falling on a holiday; no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs are permitted if placed on different units and disclosed at submission
