Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring 2 years of Neuro ICU/comprehensive stroke center experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Neuro ICU setting within a comprehensive stroke center treating neurological diseases and disorders including seizures and strokes
- .
- Also cares for overflow ICU patients from Medical Surgical ICU and Heart and Vascular ICU
- Patient ratio of 1:3
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:30
- Required to work every other weekend and holiday
- Uses Epic EMR
- Floating required to Main Campus (Dayton), South Campus (Centerville), and North Campus (Englewood), with travelers prioritized for floating assignments
Requirements
- Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS with demonstrated ability to read and interpret strips
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience and/or comprehensive stroke center experience in a large hospital setting required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, blood product administration, and continuous IV sedation
- Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
- Experience managing CVA/acute stroke, EVD, ICP monitoring, TBI, spinal cord injury, and post-neurosurgery care preferred
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Comprehensive Stroke Center and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- No prior license disciplinary action allowed
Additional Information
- Deliver critical care nursing to neurological ICU patients including stroke, TBI, and post-neurosurgical cases
- Manage complex cases involving multisystem organ dysfunction and dysrhythmias
- Comfortable floating between units and campuses based on skill set and facility needs with no restrictions
- Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submittal with no changes after offer
- Local candidates are not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Previous PERM/PRN staff or agency employees not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
