Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and GA or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work in the ICU of a hospital environment
- 24-bed unit with an average daily census of 19 patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2-3, with possibility of a 3rd patient
- Adult to geriatric patient population
- Diagnoses include ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
- Uses Pyxis and Epic systems, with SBAR communication
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required unless specified otherwise
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Block scheduling not guaranteed
- Travel pairs not permitted on the same unit and shift
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS prior to start
- TNCC certification preferred
- Experience with care of ventilated patients, HFNC, and suctioning (ETT, NT) required
- IV therapy and central line care/management experience required
- CVA/acute stroke management experience required
- Post neurosurgery management experience preferred
- CVVHD/CRRT experience preferred
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management experience required
- Post cardiac surgery experience preferred
- First-time travelers are accepted
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing services to a diverse ICU patient population with complex diagnoses
- Holiday coverage required based on how many major holidays fall within the assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day)
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Previous Piedmont Health employees (perm/per diem/FCSS) must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Returning travelers who were previously unable to return to a facility must complete one successful assignment outside Piedmont before rebooking
