Description
American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2 years of CVPICU experience and PALS certification.
Details
- Work in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) of a children's hospital
- 32-bed unit with an average daily census of 21 patients
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend required (Saturday/Sunday)
- Care for patients with post-op open hearts, single ventricles, complex cardiac anatomy/physiology, heart transplant, and heart failure
- Utilizes invasive cardiac monitoring including CVP, ART, and RA lines
- ECMO and CRRT exposure or experience needed
- Administers vasopressors, cardiac drips, and sedation drips
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
Requirements
- Active RN license (Nebraska or Compact) currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (CCRN preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of CVPICU experience required
- Pediatric cardiac ICU experience required
- Skilled in respiratory care including ventilator management, ETT/NT suctioning, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
- Experience with arterial line management, central line care, and IV therapy
- Proficient in administration of antiarrhythmics, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
- Experience with pediatric dosage calculations and use of the Broselow system
- Skilled in hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- ECMO and pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) line management experience preferred
- Post cardiac surgery care experience required
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with complex cardiac conditions
- Former permanent employees of the facility are not accepted for travel assignments
- Must reside outside a 100-mile radius from the facility to be eligible for the position
- Candidates with PICU primary experience but floated to Cardiac ICU should note frequency of float assignments in their work history
