Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an IMC/Stepdown position specializing in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery patients requiring telemetry monitoring.

Details

  • Work in the IMC/Stepdown unit of a hospital environment
  • 16 staffed beds with an average daily census of 16 patients
  • Patient population includes cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery cases (pre/post-op CABG, femoral bypass, thoracotomy, VATS, CEA)
  • Also cares for MS-level patients including STEMI/NSTEMI, CHF exacerbation, bradycardia, pacemaker management, dysrhythmias (Afib/Aflutter, SVT, Vtach), and hemo/pneumothorax patients
  • 4:1 patient ratio based on a safe staffing matrix dependent on patient acuity
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
  • Epic EMR used for charting
  • Floating required to other units and sister facilities within a 75-mile radius as needed
  • No block scheduling accommodations

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Standard or Compact) required, no pending state licenses accepted
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, EKG Course/Telemetry test, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Prior experience in IMC/MS stepdown units caring for cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery patients required
  • Experience with 4:1 patient ratios required
  • Preferred: prior charge nurse experience
  • Valid driver's license or state-issued ID required for consideration
  • Utility bill in candidate's name with matching address within the last three months required for consideration
  • Two supervisory references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide telemetry and stepdown-level nursing care to cardiac and cardiothoracic surgical patients
  • Manage dysrhythmia interpretation, cardiac drip titration, and rapid response/code team activation as needed
  • Perform skills including central/peripheral line care, chest tube management, ABG interpretation, and non-invasive airway management
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
  • Maximum RTO of 5 days per 13-week assignment, with no holiday RTO accepted
  • Former INTEGRIS employees must have at least 1 year of separation from the health system to be eligible

Unit is ran by anesthesia, you will have to get anesthesia trays,,,set there area up while they complain about what you didn't do.
