Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position requiring an active MA RN license, Level I trauma experience, and prior travel experience.
Details
- Float pool position supporting 15 medical-surgical units within a 600-bed hospital
- Specialties covered include neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, GYN, GU, hips and joints, oncology, and liver/kidney transplant/vascular
- Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Rotating 12H shifts with a schedule combination of 8 and 12 hour shifts across days, evenings, and nights
- 36 hours per week over a 4-week rotating schedule pattern
- Every other weekend and major winter holiday coverage required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Unit-specific procedures include 12-lead EKGs, lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
- Respiratory Therapy manages ventilators; RN responsible for administering nebulizers
- Assignments to specific units may be given with as little as 2 hours notice and can change every 2-3 weeks
- Set schedules cannot be guaranteed, though RTO requests are honored
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- 3+ years of related RN work experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Level I trauma experience required
- Teaching hospital and specialty area expertise preferred
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate web-based applications required
Additional Information
- Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care across a variety of specialty units as part of a float pool team
- Must complete pass/fail Tele/ECG and Medication testing
- Weekly orientation held every Monday, barring holidays
- Manager will conduct interviews and extend offers
- Time off requests may not exceed 4 days and blocked or recurring weekly schedule requests will not be approved
- Scrubs of any color are permitted
- Parking near the facility can cost up to $43 per day; public transportation is also available
- Required vaccines include COVID (with booster) and Flu, with medical exemptions allowed
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered; no local candidates accepted
- Previous BILH employees (travel, perm, or per diem) must have a 6+ month break before returning to any Beth Israel Lahey Health facility
