Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Float Pool position requiring an active MA license and Level I trauma hospital experience.

Details

• Float pool position supporting 15 medical-surgical units within a 600-bed hospital
• Specializes in neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, GYN, GU, hips and joints, oncology, and liver/kidney/vascular transplant patients
• Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Rotating 12-hour and 8-hour shifts covering days, evenings, and nights
• Assignment to a specific unit may occur with as little as 2 hours notice and can last 2-3 weeks
• No set schedule provided, though RTO requests are honored
• Every other weekend and major winter holidays required
• No on-call requirements
• Performs unit-specific procedures including 12-lead EKGs, lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
• Respiratory Therapy manages ventilators while RN administers nebulizer treatments
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 3+ years of related RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Level I trauma hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital and specialty area expertise preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Basic computer and web-based application navigation skills required

Additional Information

• Weekly orientation held every Monday, barring holidays
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility, as local candidates will not be accepted
• Previous BILH employees (travel, perm, or per diem) must have a 6-month break before returning to any BILH facility
• Must pass Tele/ECG and Medication competency testing
• Required vaccinations include COVID vaccine plus booster and flu shot, with medical exemptions allowed
• Time off requests may not exceed 4 days, and blocked scheduling or specific recurring days off will not be approved
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position given the prior travel experience requirement
