Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool position requiring an active MA license, Level I trauma experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Float pool position supporting 15 medical-surgical units within a 600-bed hospital
• Specialties include neurology, cardiac, bariatric, general medicine, general surgery, GYN, GU, hips and joints, oncology, and liver/kidney transplant/vascular care
• Patient ratios average 4:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Rotating 12-hour and 8-hour shifts across days, evenings, and nights
• 36 hours per week with unit assignments made in 2-3 week periods, sometimes with as little as 2 hours notice
• No set schedule provided, though RTO requests are honored
• Every other weekend and major winter holiday coverage required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Unit-specific procedures include 12-lead EKGs, Lasix drips, blood transfusions, and telemetry monitoring
• RNs administer nebulizers while RT manages ventilators
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 3+ years of related RN work experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
• Level I trauma experience required
• Teaching hospital experience and specialty area expertise preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate web-based applications required
• Must pass Tele/ECG and Medication competency testing
• Required vaccinations: COVID vaccine plus booster and flu vaccine (medical exemptions allowed)

Additional Information

• Weekly orientation held every Monday, barring holidays
• Any color scrubs permitted
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
• Must have a 6+ month break since last employment with Beth Israel Lahey Health before returning
• Time off requests may not exceed 4 days, and blocked scheduling or recurring specific days off will not be approved
• First-time travelers are not considered for this role due to the prior travel experience requirement
