Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Medical ICU position requiring at least 2 years of MICU experience and EPIC proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) of a hospital environment
• Patient population includes multisystem organ failure, respiratory failure, COVID, sepsis, post-cardiac arrest, DKA, liver failure, and renal failure cases
• Patient ratios of approximately 1:1-2
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses NxStage CRRT, Alaris IV pumps, GE cardiac monitors, and GE ventilators
• Utilizes continuous glucose monitoring for hyperglycemia management
• Utilizes externalized IV pumps for COVID+ patients
• EPIC EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical ICU experience required
• EPIC charting system experience required
• Proficient in IV starts
• Experience with telemetry monitoring required
• Competency with ventilator management required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and continuous IV sedation
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second from a Charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to medically complex ICU patients
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position based on facility preference
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Ohio fingerprinting must be completed promptly after signing the contract due to strict state requirements
