Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring NC or compact RN license and prior cardiac PCU experience.

Details

  • work focused Medical Progressive Care unit with 30 private beds, providing 24/7 care
  • patient population focuses primarily on cardiac conditions (CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule out MI, syncope, pacemaker placement) with secondary respiratory focus (COPD, pneumonia, BiPAP)
  • rooms remotely monitored by a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
  • patient ratios of 1:5, or 1:4 when managing drips or BiPAP
  • day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
  • weekend rotation required, along with holiday coverage as needed
  • 6-week self-scheduling system used, with shift distribution based on departmental need and patient acuity
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Nurse Assistants available 24/7; RN secretary support 7 AM-11 PM
  • floating to any Cone Health campus may be required

Requirements

  • active NC or compact RN license required
  • minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification preferred
  • prior Cardiac PCU experience required
  • previous Charge RN experience preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • must pass a Pass/Fail EKG competency exam during compliance (two attempts allowed)
  • skills required: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, on-unit telemetry monitoring, pre/post cardiac catheterization care, peripheral line and PICC line management, chest tube management (Emerson, Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, tracheostomy management, procedural sedation administration, and management of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips required
  • use of Rapid Response/Code teams preferred
  • current driver's license required to verify address

Additional Information

  • provide direct nursing care to cardiac and respiratory patients in a progressive care setting
  • must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates within this radius will be accepted
  • first-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • RTO must be submitted at the time of application; no post-submission RTO requests accepted
  • scheduling flexibility required, with strict adherence to attendance policies
  • compliance materials must be completed by 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the assignment start date
