Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring prior travel experience with craniotomy and EVD management.
Details
- Work in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit and Surgical Intensive Care Unit of a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
- Care for critically ill neurological and neurosurgical patients, including craniotomy, TBI, spinal cord injury, and CVA/acute stroke cases
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 1900-0730
- Every other weekend required, with some holiday coverage
- Floating required as needed
- Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the Neuro ICU specialty
- Prior travel nursing experience required, specifically with craniotomy and EVD management
- Epic charting experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to start, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and 80% or higher overall score
- Skilled in EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management
- Skilled in ventilator management, arterial line management, central line and PICC line care
- Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and paralytics
- Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun and FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to complex neuro and neurosurgical ICU patients, including management of multisystem organ dysfunction
- Perform interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and cardiac emergencies
- Administer IV therapy, blood products, and manage central and arterial lines
- Support patients requiring ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula
- Adhere to infection prevention protocols including isolation precautions and PPE use
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates will not be accepted
- First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to required prior specialty travel experience
