Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring NM or Compact RN license and cardiovascular experience.
Details
- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) functioning as a cardiac stepdown unit within a dedicated Heart Hospital setting
- 55-bed unit with a significant cardiac patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
- Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
- Rotating weekend requirement as needed
- Floating required to like units within scope based on facility needs, with brief orientation provided
- No on-call requirements
- Epic charting system experience required
Requirements
- Active RN license (NM or Compact) required, pending compact accepted if obtained prior to start
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification required
- CPI certification preferred
- 1-2 years of RN experience required, with cardiovascular experience specifically needed
- Epic charting experience required
- Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
- Experience with cardiac drip management and heparin protocols
- Experience with central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care preferred
- Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) preferred
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula management preferred
- Experience with sheath removal and pre/post cardiac catheterization care
- Post cardiac surgery and post MI care experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and emergency response
- Perform procedural sedation administration and monitoring
- Manage wound care and wound vac therapy
- Administer IV insulin protocols and manage blood glucose
- Provide GI care including feeding tube management
- Scrubs of any color accepted, no logos permitted
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates within this radius are not accepted
- Former staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- No more than 3-4 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and RTO is not permitted during the first week of orientation
- Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
