Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring a CA RN license, EPIC charting experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a community-level hospital
  • Facility handles 100-200 births per month, primarily low-risk with some high-risk antepartum cases
  • Patient population includes obstetric triage, antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum care
  • Uses EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring), IUPC placement, and internal/external fetal monitoring
  • Performs circulating and scrub duties for C-sections and assists with vaginal deliveries, forceps/vacuum extractions
  • Manages high-risk conditions including pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor
  • Provides neonatal care including resuscitation, APGAR scoring, and newborn assessments
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • No on-call requirements
  • No blocked or self-scheduling available

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required in-hand at time of application (EMSA not accepted)
  • Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP
  • AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
  • At least 1 year full-time equivalent experience in specialty area within the past 2 years
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • EPIC charting experience required and must be reflected in work history
  • Two supervisor references required at time of application
  • Must pass EKG exam (up to 3 attempts)

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include obstetric triage, antepartum and high-risk antepartum care, labor management, and postpartum care
  • Provides medication administration including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, prostaglandins, and antihypertensives
  • Assists with high-risk deliveries, hemorrhage/shock situations, and VBAC management
  • Delivers newborn care including thermoregulation, phototherapy, and discharge teaching to parents
  • Supports breastfeeding and lactation, including use of breast pumps and baby-friendly protocols
  • First-time travelers may be considered pending review of position details
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • No RTO permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days of RTO preferred per 13-week contract
  • All RTO requests must be submitted with the application and cannot be changed once submitted for manager review
  • Candidates previously employed at the facility must be gone a minimum of 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Manager interview may or may not be required as part of the hiring process
