Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift position requiring AWHONN Intermediate certification and Epic experience.

  • Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit
  • Assigned to a maternity float pool covering both L&D and Postpartum
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
  • 36 hours per week with every other weekend and holiday required
  • Union facility with no special scheduling accommodations available
  • Must be able to work all 7 days of the week as scheduled
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Performs labor and delivery management including vaginal and C-section deliveries, forceps/vacuum extraction, and hemorrhage/shock response
  • Administers medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
  • Utilizes external and internal fetal monitoring, including IUPC placement and calibration
  • Provides antepartum, postpartum, and neonatal care in the delivery room

Requirements

  • Active MA RN license required (conditional/temporary license accepted for submission, permanent license required within 48 hours of offer)
  • 3 years of L&D experience strongly preferred; 1-2+ years considered with travel experience
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification or higher required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood/blood products
  • Experience with high-risk delivery assistance and C-section circulation/recovery
  • First-time travelers considered if coming from a teaching hospital with relevant experience
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
  • No prior employment history with the health system within the last 12 months

Additional Information

  • Must pass two pass/fail exams at orientation: a medication exam and a telemetry exam, each with only 1 attempt allowed
  • Failure to pass either exam will result in immediate contract cancellation
  • Study materials provided during compliance process and prior to orientation
  • Pre-start modules take approximately 1-2 hours, with additional modules completed during orientation and annually
  • Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Candidates must reside within a 200-mile radius of the facility
  • Candidates with prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license will not be considered
