Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring an active PA or Compact RN license and prior ICU experience.

Details

• Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital setting
• Rotating shifts or straight nights possible, 3x12-hour night shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Floating required within the hospital and potentially to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius
• Must be available to work every other holiday

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Cerner charting system experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central line care, arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory failure care
• Experience with CVICU, MICU, or SICU patient populations
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and acute/chronic renal failure management
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and continuous IV sedation

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing to ICU patients including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and renal cases
• Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and manage patients with fresh tracheostomy or high-flow nasal cannula
• Support patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Care for post-cardiac surgery patients and those with devices such as IABP, Impella, or VAD support
• Assist with lumbar drain management and CVA/acute stroke care
• Two supervisor references preferred
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to return as travelers
• First 8 hours of orientation are unpaid
• Approximately 1 hour of pre-start training modules required before entering the facility
