Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring Level 4 NICU experience and RRT certification.
Details
- Work in the NICU at a children's hospital teaching facility
- Level 4 NICU patient population
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Can offer 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though desired schedules are not guaranteed
- Float within scope of practice as needed
- Epic EMR experience required for select units
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of NICU and PICU experience required
- Level 4 NICU experience required
- PICU Cardiac experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- RRT certification required
- BLS and NRP certifications required
- PALS certification preferred
- ACCS certification preferred
- VA state license required (license required if applicable)
- BSN preferred
- Skilled in medication delivery systems including aerosol setup, MDI, and various inhaled medications
- Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment including Bubble CPAP, CPAP/BIPAP, oscillating ventilator, and high frequency jet ventilator
- Experience with airway management including intubation assist, extubation, and tracheostomy care
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Experience caring for patients with ARDS, aspiration, bronchoscopy, cystic fibrosis, and pneumonia
- Two professional references required
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients in a Level 4 NICU setting
- Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal inter-departmental transports
- Perform ventilator management including high frequency jet and oscillator ventilation
- Support patients with conditions such as bronchopulmonary dysplasia and respiratory distress syndrome
- Maximum of 40 hours RTO permitted per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
- Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to establish an appropriate start date
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Previous UVA Health employees must have 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
- External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return once this limit is reached
- No radius rule applies to this position
