Description

American Traveler is seeking a NICU Respiratory Therapist for a night shift assignment at a children's hospital, requiring RRT certification and Level IV NICU experience.

Details

• Work in the NICU at a children's hospital
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• 36 or 48 hour weekly options available
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required
• Unit uses a self-scheduling model, though desired schedules cannot be guaranteed
• Floating required within scope of practice as needed
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• PALS certification preferred
• ACCS certification preferred
• VA state license required, license pending accepted if candidate holds another state license (license required if applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of NICU and Level IV NICU experience required
• PICU experience preferred, with cardiac PICU experience a plus
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• BSN preferred
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients in a Level IV NICU setting
• Perform ventilator management, airway management, and suctioning procedures
• Administer medications via aerosol, MDI, and nebulizer delivery systems
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) as part of clinical assessment
• Care for patients with conditions such as ARDS, BPD, respiratory distress syndrome, and cystic fibrosis
• Specialty-specific orientation modules completed during onboarding
• Previous UVA Health employees must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval to return
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
• Time off requests are limited to 40 hours per 13-week contract and must be disclosed at time of consideration
