Description
American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist for an Acute Care Medical Rehabilitation Unit, requiring 1+ year of acute care experience and NBCOT certification.

- Primary focus on stroke patients (approximately 40% of caseload)
- Full OT gym equipped with a kitchen and wide variety of therapy technology
- Strong interdisciplinary collaboration between PT, OT, and SLP teams
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch
- Required weekend coverage of one Saturday per month for 4 hours, with flexible timing
- Floating to a sister facility may be required if needed
- No on-call requirements
- Cerner charting system used
Requirements
- Active Occupational Therapist license required to practice in West Virginia (license required if applicable)
- Pending state license accepted for consideration, but active license required to begin practicing
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- Acute care experience required
- BLS certification required
- NBCOT certification required
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
Additional Information
- Work within a Medical Rehabilitation Unit located inside a Trauma hospital
- Collaborate closely with Physical Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology teams for rewarding patient outcomes
- Scrub colors may be any color except blue, forest green, or maroon, as these are reserved for nursing staff
- Unit-branded t-shirts available for staff to wear
- No restrictions on requested time off (RTO)
- Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last date of permanent employment before returning as a traveler
- Current employees of the health system are not eligible for travel contracts within the same system
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates, with case-by-case consideration for those between 75-100 miles
