Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Sub-Acute Med/Surg position requiring 1 year of experience and BLS certification.
Details
- Work in the Sub-Acute unit of a short term acute care hospital
- Unit cares for a mix of dementia/autistic patients and acute medical patients
- Patient population includes long length of stay, medical inpatient, procedural observation, and medical observation patients, as well as surgical patients requiring overnight stays
- Patient ratios are 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights, and 1:5 on weekends
- Shift schedule is 3x12 hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- Weekend rotation required (every other weekend)
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required between similar units within skill set
- Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- LTAC experience preferred
- Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
- Experience with GI care including colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube management
- Experience with neurological/psychiatric conditions such as CVA, mood disorders, and traumatic brain injury
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
- Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula and oxygen administration
- Experience with renal failure and surgical drain management
- Acute care experience required
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to a mixed population of long length of stay, acute medical, and post-surgical patients
- Float regularly between similar units within the facility system according to skill set
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this travel contract
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
- Minimal RTO preferred, ideally under 7 days
- Pending license candidates will not be considered
