Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN for a Level 2 trauma acute care setting requiring 2 years of PACU experience and WI or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) of an acute care, Level 2 trauma hospital with 34 beds
• Primarily Phase 1 recovery, with training provided for Phase 2 as needed
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1 in Phase 1
• Common cases include robotic prostatectomy, total knee/hip replacements, robotic hysterectomy, and bariatric procedures
• ICU patients recover directly on their unit and are not recovered in PACU
• CNAs support the department at a ratio of 2-3 per shift
• Respiratory therapy equipment is brought to the department as needed by RT staff
• Uses Cerner EMR, currently transitioning to Epic
• 8-hour day shifts with options for 8 or 9 hour shifts, 72 hours per pay period
• On-call requirements approximately once every 2 weeks during the week and once every 6 weeks on weekends
• Call response time of 1 hour required
• No holiday call requirements
• Floating to Post-op or Pre-op required if trained
• Scrubs provided by facility

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and PALS (AHA)
• Should be able to understand and interpret irregular cardiac rhythms
• BSN not required for this position
• 2 professional references required: 1 from a supervisor and 1 from a peer or supervisor

Additional Information

• Provide post-anesthesia recovery care to surgical patients across a variety of specialties
• Unit/department-specific orientation consists of 2-3 shifts
• Respectable casual dress required to and from work
• Local candidates within 80 miles of the facility are considered for reduced local rates
• Former Marshfield permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
• All clinicians are required to clock in and out at the facility
