Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position on an Ortho/Uro/Neuro unit requiring at least 1 year of acute care nursing experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care setting in a Level 2 Trauma hospital
• 29-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit specializing in Ortho/Uro/Neuro
• Patient population includes ortho trauma (fractures, joint replacements), vascular cases (fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy), urology (TURP, TURBT, continuous bladder irrigation), neuro-spine (laminectomy, fusion), OBGYN oncology, and acute medical admissions
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• RNs titrate drips per prescribed nomogram, including Heparin and occasionally Nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, and insulin
• Dedicated telemetry techs monitor strips 24/7, so RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Charge nurse takes an assignment on all shifts, with house supervisor coverage around the clock
• Nursing assistants support the unit with varying ratios by shift
• Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BIPAP, and High Flow Oxygen Therapy with RT support present; no ventilators on this unit
• Uses Cerner EMR, with a transition to Epic underway
• Night shift schedule from 1900 to 0730
• Required to work every other weekend and every other holiday
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• BSN not required for this position
• Two current professional references required: one from a supervisor and one from a peer or supervisor

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a diverse caseload including orthopedic, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, and oncology patients
• Participate in 1 day of computer training plus 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation
• Any color scrubs permitted as long as clean and professional
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, with a reduced bill rate
• Former Marshfield permanent employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission and require hospital approval to return
