Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery/Obstetrics night shift position requiring EFM certification and an active IL RN license.
Details
- Acute care OB unit with 4 L&D beds, 1 LDRP bed, 1 OR suite, 1 PACU/recovery bed, and 6 postpartum beds
- Unit averages approximately 647 births per year with Level 1 perinatal/nursery designation for the State of IL
- Cares for low-risk OB patients and stable newborns >/= 36 weeks gestation, as well as high-risk OB patients followed by MFM
- 12-hour night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:30am
- Weekend requirement of 3 weekends within a 6-week schedule
- Holiday rotation required based on unit staffing needs
- Floating required to other units as a helping hands RN or 1:1 safety sitter, with no floating to inpatient Behavioral Health
- Uses EPIC EMR along with Philips fetal monitoring and OBIX systems with 24/7 central fetal monitoring surveillance
- RNs are responsible for reading FHR strips and titrating drips such as Pitocin and Magnesium
- Charge Nurse and House Supervisor coverage available each shift
- 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation provided
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Current certifications required: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring), and NRP
- Experience with newborn stabilization and serving as circulator for C-sections required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Negative drug screen required for all panels due to Drug-Free Campus policy
Additional Information
- Responsible for stabilizing newborns and serving as circulator for C-section procedures
- Will monitor fetal heart rate strips and communicate concerns to providers as needed
- OB techs on the unit serve as certified nurse aids and surgical scrub techs for C-sections, with main OR surgical scrub and circulator staff as backup
- OB on-call physician available 24/7, typically in-house during active labor, with a Newborn Peds physician on call 24/7
- Respiratory therapy equipment used includes Neopuff, heated high-flow nasal cannula, and CPAP for newborns
- Dress code is flexible, but hospital-provided scrubs must be worn when caring for a patient going into the OR for a C-section
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local rate
- No radius restriction applies for standard eligibility
