Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2 years of high-risk L&D experience and a WA or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a short-term acute care, Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma teaching hospital
  • Facility manages 200-300 births per month
  • Patient population includes high-risk labor and delivery, antepartum, pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiples, and VBAC/TOLAC cases
  • Involves active management of laboring patients, inductions/augmentations, and maternal emergencies
  • Patient ratios are 1:2 for labor patients and 1:3 for antepartum patients
  • Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Some weekend shifts required
  • Floating between units required, with potential floating to sister facilities
  • No on-call requirements
  • 48-hour work weeks approved
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active WA or Compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, FHM, and NRP
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience with high-risk antepartum and labor management required
  • Ability to function independently in L&D setting
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • Must disclose any prior work history at Providence facilities as permanent staff, traveler, or registry/per-diem

Additional Information

  • Assist with high-risk deliveries, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries including forceps/vacuum extraction
  • Provide fetal monitoring including EFM, IUPC placement, and spiral electrode placement
  • Manage labor and delivery medications including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips
  • Provide postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care, lactation support, and wound care
  • Care for patients with conditions such as HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, pre-eclampsia, and preterm labor
  • Provide neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
  • Scrub color requirements are not specified for L&D RNs
  • No parking fees at this facility
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply given prior L&D experience
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not live within 50 miles of the facility
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius to qualify for travel rate, with local candidates accepted at a lower rate
  • RTO requests must be submitted upfront; minimal to no RTO accommodated after submission
