Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a high-risk L&D unit requiring 2 years of experience and a valid WA or Compact RN license.

Details

• Short Term Acute Care hospital with Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center designation
• Teaching hospital with 629 staffed beds
• Labor and Delivery unit handling 200-300 births per month
• High-risk patient population including antepartum, pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiples, and VBAC/TOLAC cases
• Active management of laboring patients including induction and augmentation, and maternal emergencies
• Labor patient ratio of 1:2 and Antepartum ratio of 1:3
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Some weekend shifts required
• Floating between units required
• No on-call responsibilities
• 48-hour work weeks approved
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active WA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, and NRP
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with high-risk L&D procedures including EFM, IUPC placement, and management of obstetric emergencies
• Experience caring for patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor
• Prior travel experience not required for candidates with sufficient L&D experience
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including triage, fetal monitoring, and assisting with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
• Manage high-risk conditions such as multiple gestation, malpresentations, uterine rupture, and hemorrhage/shock
• Administer medications including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Provide postpartum and newborn care including newborn assessment, lactation support, and discharge teaching
• Support neonatal resuscitation and emergency response as needed
• May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate; local candidates accepted at a lower rate
• Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to assignment start, as post-submission requests may not be granted
