Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor and Delivery RN for a high-risk L&D unit requiring 2 years of experience and a valid WA or Compact RN license.
Details
- Short Term Acute Care hospital with Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center designation
- Teaching hospital with 629 staffed beds
- Labor and Delivery unit handling 200-300 births per month
- High-risk patient population including antepartum, pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiples, and VBAC/TOLAC cases
- Active management of laboring patients including induction and augmentation, and maternal emergencies
- Labor patient ratio of 1:2 and Antepartum ratio of 1:3
- Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Some weekend shifts required
- Floating between units required
- No on-call responsibilities
- 48-hour work weeks approved
- Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
- Active WA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, and NRP
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with high-risk L&D procedures including EFM, IUPC placement, and management of obstetric emergencies
- Experience caring for patients with conditions such as pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor
- Prior travel experience not required for candidates with sufficient L&D experience
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care including triage, fetal monitoring, and assisting with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
- Manage high-risk conditions such as multiple gestation, malpresentations, uterine rupture, and hemorrhage/shock
- Administer medications including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Provide postpartum and newborn care including newborn assessment, lactation support, and discharge teaching
- Support neonatal resuscitation and emergency response as needed
- May be required to float between sister facilities near the contracted location
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate; local candidates accepted at a lower rate
- Former Providence permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live more than 50 miles from the facility
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront prior to assignment start, as post-submission requests may not be granted
- First-time travelers with sufficient L&D experience are welcome to apply
