Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ER Holding position requiring telemetry skills, NM or compact RN licensure, and prior travel experience
Details
- Work in the Adult Admission Inpatient Unit (AAU), which functions as an ER Holding unit adjacent to the Emergency Department
- Fast-paced admission unit accepting patients from the ED and beginning inpatient standard of care until placement on one of 11 progressive care units
- Unit has 17 beds plus up to 8 hall beds
- Diverse patient population spanning all specialties except ICU-level patients
- Patient ratios of 1 RN to 4-5 patients
- Night shift, 4x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
- Contracted hours of 36, 40, or 48 per week with facility allowed to call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
- Float required to the ED for admitted patients, ICU for sub-acute care assignments, and any inpatient PCU area
- No on-call requirements
- Relief charge may be required as needed
- Must work 2 of the 3 holiday bundles: Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, or New Year's Eve and New Year's Day
Requirements
- Active RN license (New Mexico or Compact) required, pending license accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- RQI certifications not accepted
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Prior travel experience required for this ER position
- Preferred: previous charge nurse experience
- Preferred: Level I Trauma experience
- Skills required: telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, cardiac drip management (no titration), and IV therapy/phlebotomy including starting and maintaining IVs
- Cerner charting system experience
Additional Information
- Facility is a Level I Trauma, Children's Hospital, Teaching Hospital with 554 staffed beds
- Provide care to admitted patients requiring telemetry monitoring and time management across a fast-paced turnover environment
- Must be willing to work relief charge as needed
- Scrub color is black; scrubs not provided
- No RTO during the first 7 days or last day of the contract; requests greater than 7 days require approval
- No local candidates accepted within 100 miles of the facility; non-local driver's license required on file
- A 6-month system break is required after 1 year or 4 consecutive assignments, whichever comes first
- Former staff must have a 12-month separation before returning
- Contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks in length
- No fee for parking
