Description
American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital's NICU, requiring 2 years of NICU/PICU experience and RRT certification.
Details
- Position is in the NICU/RRT unit of a Level I Trauma, teaching, children's hospital that provides short-term acute care
- Average daily census of 6-10 ventilated patients
- Night shift, 4x12 hours, 18:00-06:30
- Weekend work required as needed by the unit, with no more than 3 consecutive weekends
- Floating to the RRT Adults unit as needed
- Uses Cerner for charting
- Must work 2 of the 3 major holiday bundles (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year's)
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in NICU/PICU required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications required
- PALS certification preferred
- New Mexico state license required if applicable
- Must be self-rated a 4 on High Frequency Jet Ventilator (HFJV) and High Frequency Oscillator (HFOV), or a 3 with true children's hospital experience
- Skilled in endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning, oropharyngeal suctioning, tracheostomy suctioning, and sputum specimen collection
- Proficient in pulmonary toileting and ABG interpretation
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted
Additional Information
- Provide respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients including ventilator management and airway care
- Perform pulmonary hygiene procedures and assist with high-risk deliveries as needed
- Work within a Level I Trauma, teaching, children's hospital environment
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Requests for time off greater than 7 days require facility approval
- Facility does not accept candidates residing within 100 miles
