Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring GA or Compact licensure and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital environment
  • 16-bed L&D unit with an average daily census of 15, plus a 6-bed L&D Triage area
  • Patient population includes neonates, infants, and adults
  • Facility averages 200-300 births per month
  • Manages high risk antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum care
  • Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:00
  • Requires 3 weekend shifts per contract
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • On-call requirement of 2 calls per 6 weeks for AM and PM shifts
  • Uses Epic EMR, Pyxis, and SBAR communication tools

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NRP
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Skilled in labor and delivery management, including vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and high-risk deliveries
  • Experience with fetal monitoring, including external and internal monitoring and IUPC placement
  • Experience managing postpartum complications such as hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
  • Experience with medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
  • Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and neonatal care in the delivery room
  • Perform newborn care duties including APGAR scoring, cord sample collection, and ID/security banding
  • Support patients through pain management, including epidural and general anesthesia
  • Provide postpartum care including breastfeeding support, wound care, and fundus/lochia assessment
  • Scrubs provided by the facility
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with RTO required to be finalized at time of submission
  • No RTO permitted during orientation week
  • Blackout dates for RTO include Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
  • Holiday coverage required based on number of major holidays falling during the assignment period
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Previous perm, per diem, or FCSS staff must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before applying as a traveler
  • Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
